Things have been a little crazy around here lately. I’m planning a wedding now and cutting back on the expenses, but we did recently make our way to Truffles Grill in Winter Park Village. We don’t make it out that way often. I actually was blissfully unaware that Truffles was there until I stopped by Chamberlain’s recently.
I’m thrilled that I was intrigued enough to keep it in my pocket for our next evening out. Truffles is a great space with dreamy lighting both inside and outside and a charming wall of vintage, European-inspired posters. Our table was piled high with salad, spinach dip, tomato bisque, a 2 black bean burgers, spicy grilled cheese and homemade sangria. All of our appetizers and entrees were incredibly rich and flavorful. I’ve become a vegetarian burger connoisseur of sort over the last couple of years and I was very impressed with Truffles’ black bean burger. The texture was neither mushy, which can happen if you don’t have a good binder, nor chewy which tends to happen with burgers that have a lot of vital wheat gluten. Erica and I did a food swap so I tasted her grilled cheese. It was to-die-for. Piled high with homemade pimento cheese and fresh sourdough bread, it was incredibly rich and while we couldn’t even finish it between the two of us, it is definitely my idea of a comfort food.
With all of this being said, we can’t wait to revisit and try more of the menu! If you haven’t made your way to this vibrant restaurant, put it in your pocket for your next evening out.
