Summer Adventures in Turkey Lake Park

Recently we were in the mood for an outdoor adventure. It’s not often enough that we spend time relaxing outdoors. While we had a fabulous time gallivanting around Turkey Lake’s Bill Frederick Park, there may be a reason that we neglect spending time outdoors in mid-July. It was HOT.

We braved the heat and decided we would definitely come back in the Fall to play disc golf, grill some [veggie] burgers and ride a two-person bike on the trails. It costs just $4 to bring a carload of your friends (and your puppy) into this park. The park has a disc golf course along its hiking trails. Turkey Lake park is fully loaded with beach volleyball courts, a community pool, biking and hiking trails, a children’s farm and even campgrounds.

We are already planning our (much cooler) visit to the park in the Fall. We’re thinking yoga amongst the trees, lunch, disc golf and, if we can get our hands—rather, our butts— on some two-seater bikes, a couples’ bike race. You can’t deny that it sounds like fun!

A word of caution: if you’re bringing your canine friends to this park, don’t plan on having a picnic, as the picnic areas are dog free areas, as is the children’s farm.

If you’re looking for an open space where you can spend the day outdoors, head over to Turkey Lake Park. We recommend that you head over there well-hydrated and ready to take a dip in the pool (if you dare) or be patient and meet us over there when the weather cools down.

Central Florida has lots of great parks! Do you have a favorite park and a favorite outdoor activity that you go to the park for? Share your outdoor inspiration in the comments!
