Support Local Business: Visit the Winter Park Farmer’s Market

Every Saturday from 7am until 1pm in Winter Park you can find locally grown produce, locally made crafts and the smell of kettle corn calling you from across the train tracks. I get excited about going to the Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning the same way I get excited about exploring a new city when I’m on vacation. So far, Winter Park has been our favorite market. The numerous vendors provide such as wide variety of offerings that if you can’t find it there, you probably don’t need it (says the vegetarian!). The beauty of the Farmer’s Market reaches far beyond fresh produce at great prices. It’s about supporting the businesses in your community....

Post Update 2/11: Unfortunately its has come to our attention that Hollywood Bistro has closed. However if you want to read on and hear about what once was a great restaurant continue below. With a culinary career that spans over 20 years and a long list of  numerous awards, there is no question that Chef Dee, the owner of Hollywood Bistro, knows his stuff when it comes to food. So when we heard that a new restaurant had opened up in the Winter Springs Town Center and the chef’s resume included a position overseeing the menu development of all restaurants at Universal Studios we knew it was definitely a place we needed to visit....

The Singing Christmas Trees Light up Orlando

December 7, 2010
By

Every year during the holiday season I hear talk about the popular Singing Christmas Trees show put on by First Baptist Orlando but have never had a chance to check it out. However this year my mother-in-law played a part in the performance and so I was invited to opening night. Now I know when someone mentions a church performance one might envision something similar to local theater, however to try and associate anything small or standard with this performance would be completely inappropriate. This show is definitely no small time gig but rather a full-on professional production that includes a full orchestra, a choir, dancers and actors all of which focus around the main features of...

Dandelion brings Vegetarian Flair to Orlando

December 5, 2010
By
DandelionCafe (10)

Dandelion Communitea Cafe has been one of my favorite restaurants for lunch, dinner and even my Thanksgiving Feast since I became a vegetarian. Located one block southwest of Mills and Colonial in what once was a residential home, this vegan/vegetarian restaurant has great character and great food. I cannot say enough fantastic things about the food which is made fresh and much of it is locally grown. You’ll never find a Boca Burger or some other over-processed vegan concoction on their menu. All of their dishes are as natural as can be and absolutely delicious. The tea selection is a tea lovers heaven. The atmosphere is all about art, music and love – check...

Winter Weather In Orlando: Gaylord Palms Resort ICE! Experience

November 30, 2010
By
GaylordPalmsICE

With the weather this holiday season being unseasonably warm (what’s new in Florida) Elle and I jumped at the chance to enjoy a bit of cold weather to help get ourselves into the holiday spirit. So rather than fight the crowds this Black Friday we took a trip over to the Gaylord Palms Resort ICE! Experience where frigid 9 degree temperatures were required for the viewing of 2 million pounds of some truly unique sculpted art. In retrospect, our experience at the exhibit was one filled with Christmas cheer and nostalgia and I dare say we even became a little giddy. The freezing temps, excitement of the crowd and the focus on a classic childhood story had us feeling a little...

The Wine Room: A Winter Park Fine Wine(ing) experience

November 26, 2010
By
WineRoom5

The Wine Room is one of Winter Park’s finest businesses. The concept of wine tasting is taken to the next level with their state-of-the-art, temperature controlled, self-serve wine dispensers. I can’t say enough wonderful things about The Wine Room. The staff has always been friendly, the decor is adorable, the wine is fully stocked (98% of the time…but hey, perfection is boring!). The self-service makes it very easy for you to spend as much or as little as you want. You just “load” your wine card with as much money as you’d like to spend and grab a glass. If you’re a first time Wine Room Patron, you’ll have to purchase the wine card–...
