New Orleans Culture and Cuisine at Tibby’s
We have been meaning to go to Tibby’s New Orleans Kitchen in Winter Park since it opened. Having the same owners as Tijuana Flats, we knew it would be delicious! We went in with high expectations and we left feeling like they had gone above and beyond with this one!
Tibby’s website says, “Tibby’s is not just about what you see, it’s about how it makes you feel. It’s about expressing personality and character through food, music, art and heritage. It has the vibe of New Orleans funk in a very fun atmosphere…” We will have to agree whole heartedly with that one. This restaurant has such flair with it’s charming mix of old New Orleans and pops of rich color all over the place. Their bar is unexpectedly beautiful. We weren’t expecting such a fabulous ambiance for a casual dining restaurant, but we cannot say enough great things about what they’ve done with the place.
Now onto the food… Sweet New Orleans cuisine. We started with the Bienville salad. The portions are huge— three of us shared this one salad and it was totally satisfying. The burgundy vinaigrette, manchego cheese, blackberries and walnuts was the best combination to top leafy greens that I have had in a very long time. We broke our healthy eating streak with some fried pickles and it was so worth it! I shared the eggplant parm with our friend, Maris and it was heavenly! Erica ordered Shrimp and Andouille cheddar grits which smelled and looked amazing. Again, the portions were plentiful, she took half of her meal home with her.
The service at Tibbys was great! Our server was super friendly, gave us great suggestions and warned us that the portions were large enough to share. We can’t wait to go back for dessert, which we had to pass on because…well, we were very full by the end of this late lunch.
If you haven’t already checked out Tibby’s it’s about time you do. And if you’ve already been there, it’s time to make a trip back for bread pudding and root beer floats!
