Word of Hakwers Asian Street Fare has spread like wildfire and every time we drive by we say, “we have to try that place.” The building’s modern gray exterior with huge windows is bold and intriguing, and a few weeks back we finally couldn’t ignore the place any longer.
Hawkers has a large space with a modern warehouse feel. The decor includes concrete floors, high ceilings, industrial light fixtures, sleek white modern stools and metal siding along the walls. For food, the restaurant serves small portions at great prices. The plates range from about $3 to $6 and they are meant to be shared tapas style.
Erica and I shared the spiced golden tofu and the the vegetarian summer rolls. We were hanging with Yelp Orlando’s Colleen Burns and The Daily City’s Mark Baratelli and they were kind enough to let us snap some shots of what they were noshing on, including meatballs and a pancake-like creation that I didn’t catch the name of, but was light and buttery. Hawkers also has a vast beer selection with the perfect beer for every taste and every budget.
The service was so fun! Our server had a sense of humor and she did a great job of keeping track of the multiple checks at our table. It was an all around good time!
Hawkers doesn’t yet have a website so if you are looking to stay up-to-date on the latest with the restaurant you can visit their facebook or twitter page.
