Last weekend we were looking for something different (when are we not looking for something different?) casual and delicious. As I mentioned when I wrote about Agave Azul, Mexican food is my favorite. Mucho Tequila and Tacos was no exception. Located on South Eola Drive, this place has a Dia de Los Muertos theme going on— warm lighting, lots of reds, skulls on sticks and huge masks on the walls. It’s dimly lit and if it weren’t such a large space, you might think you were in some fun Mexican bar during spring break. They’ve got a ton of outdoor seating space and now is definitely the perfect time to enjoy your meal outside!
The menu at Mucho Tequila and Tacos was fun, to say the least! The tequila menu was out of control. (Seriously go to their website and see for yourself.) Erica and I ended up ordering the sangria, but I assure you that we’ll be back someday soon to get educated on tequila and do some tequila tasting. Our food was super fresh—fresh jalapeños anyone? Erica’s lettuce wrap fajitas were full of flavor without having to sacrifice healthy eating. You have to love that! As with most mexican restaurants, they have lots of menu items that can be modified to be vegetarian. (Make sure you specify that you want vegetarian beans.) The portion sizes were monstrous, but I can’t complain. (I may or may not have eaten that entire burrito…and chips!)
I must say that the service was great! Our server was very fun and attentive. She asked if I was a vegetarian when I ordered the veggie burrito to make sure that I got vegetarian bean. I love that! Intuitive service. Even though it was a Saturday night and there were plenty of mouths waiting to be fed, she was super quick with everything and kitchen was keeping up well too. It was an overall awesome experience.
Whether you’re a Mexican food connoisseur or just looking for a fun time with some great food, you won’t be disappointed with Mucho Tequila and Tacos.
