Bikes, Beans & Bordeaux: Great for Brunch, Lunch and So Much More!

By in Bars and Coffeehouses, Cuisine on October 27, 2010

After an exhausting 5 mile run last Sunday, Laura and I decided to try out a new place we recently heard about called Bikes, Beans and Bordeaux. We figured it would be the perfect place to go since there was mention of bikes in the title and we were to lazy to change out of our sweaty sports gear before we headed over. Located only a few minutes from Baldwin Park this awesome little cafe was tucked away in a small strip mall, so discretely so, we had to circle around twice before we actually found it.

From the outside the place didn’t really look like anything special but as soon as we stepped inside we knew there was a really cool experience awaiting us. The cafe which is a mix of coffeehouse and wine bar, has a variety of organic, vegetarian and low fat menu items to choose from. Since it was to early for us to test their beer and wine list, we both had a latte and Laura had the Pumpkin waffles (made with real pumpkin) and I the seasonal sandwich. Both were delicious!

As for the atmosphere they definitely get high marks. The charm of this place was the main aspect that left me absolutely in love. The cafe showcases these awesome custom metal art pieces on the walls, with cycling being the theme. They also sell a handful of handcrafted jewelry as well as key chains and bottle openers made from old recycled bike chains. The small space, which has a great cozy “kick up your feet” kinda feel, consists of two couches (with a nearby mounted TV), a handful of tables and two breakfast bars.

If you are one of those individuals who is over the craziness of sitting at Starbucks, I definitely believe this cafe has the potential to become a haven for you. The coffee is great (you must try the special holiday pumpkin spice latte) and since the cafe has free wifi you can even check in on your favorite blog “AMPlified Culture” while you waste the day away.

Hopefully after catching a glimpse of what Bikes, Beans & Bordeaux has to offer you will go out and support this local gem.
