It’s always fabulous when we find a restaurant that has both delicious cuisine and great prices. When I stopped by Winter Park’s El Bodegon for a lunch date with a few friends recently, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were, in-fact, one of those restaurants.
El Bodegon offers authentic Spanish cuisine and provides a wide selection of dishes including paella, steak, lamb, fish and chicken. They also have an extensive tapas menu and a wine and beer list that includes some of Spain’s top brands.
While I didn’t get a chance to try the tapas or the wine during my lunch visit, I did get to order from their awesome lunch specials menu. Every Monday thru Friday, from 11:30am-3pm, you can create your very own 3 course meal. There are a handful of delicious combination to choose from, and the best part is that it only costs $10.99.
I started my meal with a white bean soup, and for my main course I chose a deliciously prepared Grouper, which was the catch of the day. The dish came breaded with sauteed onions, peppers, and other veggies. For dessert I had crema catalana, which the waiter explained is considered Spain’s version of crème brûlée. It had a slightly different taste than the usual version of the dessert I was used to, but I absolutely loved it! Everything was just so good! The presentation was colorful and the dishes were flavorful. By the end of my meal we were totally impressed with the quality and value of what we had been provided.
For the dining space, the restaurant showcases an old world Spanish style feel. The main area features arches, which create a separation for the small dinning area, brick walls, and a color palette focusing of maroons, browns and neutrals. It definitely creates a charming setting to dine.
If you’re looking for great value and a taste of the old county, definitely head over to El Bodegon.
